The Rick VanStory Resource Center is staffed by staff and volunteers who are in recovery from mental illness, Our journeys to recovery are unique, but shared experiences form the foundation for you to build your future! Our services will be determined by your needs.

  • Housing & Employment Skills Assistance
  • Pre-Hospital Discharge Planning
  • Accompaniment to Mental Health Court and other appointments
  • A Warm Line with 24/7 response capability
  • Peer Support
  • In-house Residential Program
  • Emergency Shelter
  • Daily Storage (with limitations)
  • Mail Services
  • Wellness Center


With the support of your peers, you can find links to the community resources you need to build the life you envision for yourself.

We can help you connect you to:

  • Public assistance including food stamps, Section 8, LIHEAP ( energy costs), medical access, Social Security, and other benefits
  • Transportation assistance including para-transit
  • Access to legal aid, connections to the public defenders office, and assistance with probation and parole
  • Housing assistance
  • Volunteer opportunities and activities in the community
  • GED Preparation & Support Groups
  • Job training and placement through the department of Vocational Rehabilitation & Department of Labor
  • Links to mental health & substance abuse providers

... and whatever else you need to support your recovery!


The Wellness Center allows the homeless to get their vital medications on a daily basis so they don't fall victim to the unfortunate medication roller-coaster ride.  A key component to this program is "medication education".The Wellness Center is administered by Grubb Pharmacy
